Hello,
I’m Paul Lycett—a graphic designer and illustrator based in the city of Seattle, in the United States. I’ve been a designer and branding specialist for over 20 years, working for branding consultancies, in-house branding departments, and currently as an independent freelance/business owner.
Novel cover design, posters and illustration was something that I initially did as a self-directed creative alternative to my day-to-day branding work—because I just enjoyed doing it. I’ve always loved the Science-Fiction and Fantasy genres since I was a child growing up in England, but never really got the chance to explore these creative interests in my general branding work.
After building a portfolio of self-directed work, and sharing that work with various publishers, I’ve been fortunate that for the past 8+ years I’ve been commissioned to create novel cover designs & illustrations for books by authors such as Isaac Asimov, Patrick Fitzgerald, Peter F. Hamilton, Robin Hobb, Simon Jimenez, Josh Malerman, China Miéville, and Emily Skrutskie, amongst others.
I currently specialize in the Science-Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror genres, but I’m also comfortable with Classics, Mystery & Thriller, and Historical Fiction—and I’m open to others! I’ve worked with/for: Penguin Random House, Del Rey Books, Random House Worlds, Podium Entertainment, Bloomsbury, Harper Collins, Nocturna, Minotauro, Mondadori, J’ai Lu Publishing and Azbooka Atticus.
