I’ve loved the science-fiction and fantasy genres since I was a child growing up in England, and always wanted to be a part of that world. I’ve been a traditional graphic designer and brand creator for over 20 years, but never really got the chance to introduce my childhood sci-fi/fantasy interests into my general branding work.
So, I decided to make it happen myself…
I fed the urge in my down-time by designing personally-directed posters and novel covers for books, TV shows and movies that really had an impact on me. And I did this just for myself, as a creative outlet. But, I liked doing it so much that I wanted to make it ‘real’ (or at least give it a shot).
I was fortunate (after some creative self-marketing) to make a connection with Penguin Random House, and was commissioned to create a number of cover designs for authors such as Robin Hobb, Josh Malerman and Isaac Asimov.
So, fast-forward 8 years, and I’ve been able to design dozens of covers for clients/publishers such as: Penguin Random House, Del Rey Books, Random House Worlds, Podium Entertainment, Harper Collins, Nocturna, Minotauro, Mondadori, J’ai Lu Publishing and Azbooka Atticus.
I’m still a graphic designer and brand creator 90% of the time, but with a really creatively fulfilling ’side-gig’.
